Beginners Level Buttercream Basics will cover the fundamentals of cake decorating and learn some decorating techniques you can reuse to create different cakes.
WHAT IS IN THE BEGINNER'S LEVEL CAKE DECORATING BASICS
Access to Beginners Level Cake Decorating Basics course hosted on a members-only website. The instruction sheets for all 7 lessons are downloadable and you can print them out and put them in a binder for easy reference. Here is a brief description of what will be covered in each lesson.
Lesson 1: Learn about the ingredients used in the icing and how they interact under different pressure and the causes of issues. Which food colouring is the best to use in buttercream.
Lesson 2: Bag placement and position, pressure control, how to get a bag ready, how to fill a bag, how to hold a bag, start piping and to practise pressure control
Lesson 3: Piping with a piping bag learning the pressure control and angle. Getting started on training the arm muscle for the decorating process
Lesson 4: Learn how to pipe some basic buttercream flowers using a piping nail.
Lesson 5: Make paper piping bags and learn how to write using piping gel.
Lesson 6: Learn how to use a pallet knife and decorate combs and decorate cupcakes using the skills and techniques learnt from previous lessons.
Lesson 7: Learn how to prepare a cake, and fill and level the cake to have a flat top. Crumb coat the cake and then decorate the cake using any of the skills and techniques learnt in the previous lessons.
